Stirling Historical Society

The Stirling
Historical Society maintains and hosts the Michelsen Homestead, a
provincial historical site located in the northwest part of the
village. The original Michelsen home was built in 1907. The LDS
church sentAndreas Michelsen and
his family on a mission to Stirling to help build a canal from
Kimball, which is south of Cardston, Alberta to Stirling. The
Michelsen Homestead is opened to the public for a nominal cost from
May to September. Membership in the Stirling Historical Society is
opened to all residents of the village and surrounding area. The
society is the organizer of the annual community Village Garage Sale
in May.
The Lioness Club shares in the motto,
"we serve". Membership is open to all adults. We encourage new
ideas, and look forward to getting to know you. We have some great
family traditions in our club that we would like to be able to share
with more new members. We promote joining the Lioness club for at
least two years, and see if you can make a difference. Lioness Clubs
offer leadership opportunities. Besides meeting once/month from
September till June, we also have social activities that build
community spirit. Stirling is a great place to live and raise a
family.
The Stirling Lions Club is a
non-denominational service club dedicated to serving our community.
The Stirling Community Centre (with its two bowling alleys),
Stirling playground and the Stirling fishpond are all projects
spearheaded by the club. Stirling School, the library, fire
department and cemetery have all received financial support from the
Lions. The club membership is open to men and women over 18 years
of age who wish to help those less fortunate than themselves. We
meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays September through June at the
Community Centre. Contact President Grant Nelson or Secretary Ken

Stirling Parent/Teacher Association

The association of parents & teachers
who work together for the benefit of Stirling School children. Our
main focus is to be a source of information for the principal
towards the children’s education. We also plan special events &
provide programs in the school.
Stirling Seniors

The Seniors group is for people 55+
years old. The group meets at the Senior’s Centre located in the
pool building at 337 5th Street. Meetings are on
Thursdays at 6:00 from September to June. The second and last
meetings of the month are potluck suppers. The group has a pool
table, games, and entertainment and arranges tours to special
events.
Stirling Silver Saddle Club

The Saddle Club maintains a large,
outdoor arena with lighting. Members can use the arena for riding
at their convenience as well as participate in riding events and
training organized by the club.
Stirling TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly)

TOPS is a non profit organization that
provides local support for anyone wishing to lose weight using
healthy food choices, exercise & lifestyle changes. It is a fun way
to share with people who have similar interests.
Stirling Volunteer Fireman's Association

We have experienced firefighters & EMS
volunteers and excellent fire fighting equipment. The department is
always on the search for new members. If you are interested and are
a team player please contact one of the members for more
information. We supply the finances for training and equipment, all
members are volunteers and do not receive wages. Are you aware that
without a local fire department, your insurance rates would be much
higher?
The board of directors makes operational
decisions & supports the volunteer and paid staff at the library.
Good Food Box

The Good Food box program gives you a variety of top-quality, fresh, nutritious vegetables and fruits at lower prices. Families or individuals will pay $10.50 a box once a month (you can order as many boxes as you would like). The drop off box is located at the Creamery. You order is due on the first Thursday of the month by 9am. A volunteer then buys the foods in bulk from the Raymond Mercantile, and other volunteers pack the boxes. Once a month, on the third Thursday, you will pick up your box(es) at the Creamery. Good Food Boxes let families have nutritious fresh food that looks, smells and tastes great. Stay and Play at the Parent Link Center

Stay and Play is a valuable program for parents and children (birth to six years) to attend together. This program is provided by FCSS and your tax dollars and there is no charge and registration is not required. Songs, rhymes, stories, sand and water play, dress ups and housekeeping, blocks, science, and creative art are all available in a safe and inviting learning environment. We also offer Parenting Classes and some evening programs where registration is required. Call Stacey @315-3942 for more information or come drop in and see what we’re all about!
